On 20th May 2024, Yvonne Temba Foundation(YTF), in partnering with Future Youth Foundation, visited primary schools in the Arusha region and distributed exam supplies to students in Grade 7 and early childhood classes. They also identified and spoke with children living in difficult circumstances in these schools to identify their needs and seek assistance for them. YTF provided school supplies such as pens and pencils to the identified students living in difficult circumstances to encourage them. Through this project, the Yvonne Temba Foundation, partnering with the Future Youth Foundation, discovered that many students in schools face challenges in accessing essential school supplies such as uniforms, notebooks, pens, and shoes, hindering them from achieving their educational goals effectively.
IMPACT; Through this project, we successfully reached more than 500 Grade 7 students and approximately 90 early childhood students. We hope to reach many more children to enable them to achieve their educational goals.
FUNDER; IVONE TEMBA
In her work environment as a teacher, she met children with various challenges in life who have given up on continuing to study, others poor living conditions made them miss the opportunity to continue their studies. Some students liked to study but due to restrictions such as the cost of school uniforms, lack of reading and learning materials such as notebooks and pens and other small donations deprived them of their basic right to get a good education. This situation led to frequent absenteeism, receiving punishment from teachers, pregnancy in girls, poor performance and sometimes dropping out of school.
Children have grown up going through the tragedies of sexism but they fail to report such evil acts due to the threats they receive from the people who do such acts to them. Lack of proper education to protect themselves from the incident has caused children grown silent about these actions while they continue to be hurt by the cruelty. Yvonne Temba Foundation aims to empower children of all genders and build their ability to say no against acts of sexism and sexual violence by sitting with children, talking to them and giving them the best education on how to protect themselves and how they can report such incidents.
Due to the love she has for children and wanting to see a good life and great success for children and students of all circumstances, Ivone Temba has determined to involve the community and ask the community to support her in this journey.
